// 2018 //

2018 was so much more than I thought it would be. I know I say this every year, but I am so grateful for the couples, families, and folks who trusted me to not only take their photo, but to tell a small part of their story. Half way through the year, I moved back to the United States after having lived in the Dominican Republic for three years. It was a hard decision, but I was ready to start a new chapter back in Chicago. I had no idea what moving back to Chicago would really look like for me personally and for this business, but now that I’m on the other side I can simply say that it has been amazing, challenging, rewarding, difficult, exciting, daunting, and inspiring.

I cannot wait to see what 2019 brings.

elegant and modern wedding inspiration

this day was amazing. a classic bride with non-traditional, elegant, and modern style. an all white venue to showcase a rich color palette and detailed textures. a contemporary bouquet and handmade hanging altarpiece.

this wedding inspiration brilliantly executed by these amazing Chicago partners:

danae & dan // jarabacoa, dominican republic

these two have a great love for the dominican republic and you can hear it in every conversation with them. after 5 years of calling this place home, they will be returning back to the states this summer.

what a better way to celebrate their deep affection for the mountains and landscapes of jarabacoa than with some photos?

thank you danae and dan for letting me tell a small part of your dominican story!

year in review // 2016

when I sat down to look back on this past year's work, I was overwhelmed. overwhelmed by the sheer number of people I had the joy to work with -- the families, the babies, the couples, the seniors. every year, I am reminded of the beautiful stories to be told and feel so honored to be a part of them in a small way.

thank you to each and every one of you who stepped in front of my camera and trusted me. you make my days better.

powell family // jarabacoa, dominican republic

this family, oh my heart.

it feels like just last week we were taking fenna's first year photos and now here we are watching her become a big sister. this little trio, soon to be quartet, is leaving the dominican republic soon and our hearts are heavy but anticipating wonderful changes for them.

alicia, curtis, fenna, and baby-to-be, we will miss you so. I loved exploring random streets of jarabacoa and finding colorful places with you all one last time.

// 2015 //

dance parties and babies and details and big laughs and seniors and veils and long walks and quiet moments and brides and engagements and light and greenery and teary-eyed friends and dear families made for a fantastic 2015.
